After being turned on by punk rock in the 1970s, Josh Winkelman aka Josh Wink was inspired by a diverse group of dance artists during the 1980s, ranging from Kraftwerk to Depeche Mode to Run-D.M.C. At the age of 13, Wink began working with a Philadelphia-based mobile DJ service. After he met up with King Britt also a DJ, at one of the party, both began recording. One of their first productions was in the 1990's ‘Tribal Confusion’ by E-Culture was released on New York's Strictly Rhythm Records and became a success in America's exploding rave scene, which both Britt and Wink sound-established by DJing at events around the country. Before forming Ovum Records in the late 1994 with King Britt; Wink had also recorded for Nervous, another vaunted East Coast electronic music label. Though his DJ career was taking off, Wink's restless spirit led him into cutting records of his own. Wink recorded the cult classic ‘Liquid Summer.’ He went on to release singles for a wide variety of revered European record labels. He also began remixing for Moby and others artists. Wink's eclectic style incorporates techno, house, drum and bass and other experimentation with music, which has earned him recognition around the world as evidenced by European chart-toppers such as ‘I’m Ready, ’‘Higher State Of Consciousness,’ and ‘Don't Laugh.’ ‘HEREHEAR,’ Winks second full length album and first for his own Ovum Recordings imprint, finds him pursuing more daring aesthetic goals. His DJing carrer opened many doors to spin at prestigious nightspots all over the world soon poured in but as his career progressed, he stayed true to his roots, always maintaining his integrity, always coming home to his beloved home Philadelphia.
