Real name Tijs
Verwest’s or
Tiesto’s interest for music started at an early age of twelve.
By the age of twenty he got involved very serious with music. As a DJ,
because of his passion for music, he is nowadays, one of the most liked and
famous DJ in the world. He is yet to be considered the godfather of
electronic music.
In 1999, his most
performance took place at Gatecrasher’ Leeds, the most popular club of
England. In 2000 he got break through with his unforgetful set at Innercity.
With an anthem Gouryella, which was also a co-production with Ferry Corsten,
became a Top 20 hit in England. But behind the glory and fame of this
incredible DJ, the man behind the well known name DJ Tiësto is still a very
usuall and normal guy from Breda, Neitherlands.
Tiësto’s career is
punctuated by landmark achievements. He is the first DJ in the world to have
sold out a solo stadium event for over 25,000 people. He also scored a
number one hit with his single Traffic, the first instrumental track to
reach the top spot in his homeland of Holland. His remix of Delerium
featuring Sarah McLachlan’s “Silence” was the first house track ever
broadcast on daytime radio in North America. Tieso played live in front of
billions of people during the Parade Of The Athletes at the official opening
ceremony of the Olympic Games in Athens. But despite his sky rocketing
success, DJ Tiësto remains grounded about his achievements and clearly loves
not just playing but also making music above the accomplishment it brings.
The future for
Tiësto promises yet further success, as the solo artist he has become and
the DJ we know him to be. “Another album, more remixes, definitely,” he
agrees, “but it is hard to look too far into the future. Every couple of
months it seems that something new, unexpected and exciting is happening!” Tiësto is
currently experimenting with new sounds in his studio and writing more
vocals himself. “I am not looking for any big collaborations right now, I am
more interested in a burgeoning talent; someone whose voice is good, and
that really touches you. A voice should sound like an instrument to me. I
have had a spell away from the studio, relaxing and travelling, but now I am
really enthused about getting back in there. I am more open to doing remixes
again. I like to hear a track and right away know what I want to do with it,
what I can make different, and whether it will work for me in my sets; all
my remixes have to be tried and tested.”
